One 17-year-old canine from Fort Worth, Texas is discovering herself in a very challenging circumstance after her previous owners relinquished her with a demand that she be put to sleep.

The rescue that accepted the dog, named Daisy, in declined the euthanasia demand. Saving Hope Rescue believed that she had too much positive life remaining in her still.

While that’s lucky for Daisy, it does put her in a tricky situation: Needing a permanent residence.

The rescue posted on Facebook, stating:

“Introduce yourself to Daisy! Daisy is 17 years old and was relinquished as a euthanasia demand however that was REJECTED and she has demonstrated to still have some positive life left in her. She is examined and heartworm negative. She is educated to use potty pads. Daisy adores going outside however only under close monitoring due to her size and the fact that she is hard of hearing. Daisy would do best in a home without small kids however she is dog and cat amicable.”

Senior canines often spend far too long in shelters and at rescues because people select the more youthful dogs or the puppies. While it’s understandable why people want younger canines, the rescue is wishing that a family will step up and see the charm of adopting a senior pooch like Daisy.

Anyone interested in adopting Daisy can complete an application.

We would like to take this time to wish Daisy all of the best in her quest. Senior canines are not always given the proper opportunity to enjoy their final years, so we are hoping that this tale has a different conclusion.
