The Trenton Thunder’s beloved bat-retrieving dog, Rookie, has been a fan favorite at Trenton Thunder Ballpark and Rider University’s Sonny Pittaro Field in New Jersey. However, this season, the delightful pup took on a new challenge—traveling to Sahlen Field in New York to support the team during their scheduled games there.

During a thrilling Wednesday night game between the Buffalo Bisons and the Lehigh Valley Ironpigs, Rookie took center stage—but not in the way anyone expected. As the game was in full swing, excitement got the best of him, and he ran right onto the field!
A Delightful Field Invasion
Rookie, always full of energy, couldn’t contain his enthusiasm at the new ballpark. Instead of sticking to his usual role of retrieving bats between innings, he sprinted onto the field during live play, creating a hilarious and unforgettable moment for everyone in attendance.
Players had to pause as the furry baseball assistant playfully ran around, wagging his tail and checking out the pitcher’s mound. The crowd erupted in cheers, fully embracing the adorable interruption. Even the game announcers were left momentarily speechless, unsure of how to narrate the unexpected yet heartwarming scene playing out before them.
