Howling in Bathroom Walls Leads to Shocking Animal Rescue Discovery

A Mysterious Sound in the Walls

Last week, rescuers from the Kirkland Foundation sprang into action following a chilling and urgent call from a distressed homeowner. According to a Facebook post from the group, the woman had reported continuous howling sounds coming from the walls of her bathroom, and was visibly shaken by the experience.

You’ve Heard This Before…

This wasn’t a first for the rescue crew. Joey Phipps of the Kirkland Foundation responded immediately to the scene and was later joined by Brandi and Sydney Sherman from Fresno T.N.R. (Trap-Neuter-Return). The scenario instantly reminded the team of a similar case months earlier—a kitten had fallen into a wall cavity behind a clothing store’s bathroom.

Trapped Kittens Confirmed

Once inside the house, the team confirmed their suspicions. Two kittens had apparently been playing in the woman’s attic and had accidentally tumbled down a narrow opening between the walls, ending up trapped behind the bathroom drywall.

The only way to free them? Cut through the bathroom walls by hand. Not an ideal solution for the homeowner, who was initially hesitant about the damage that would be done to her home.

Eventually, the homeowner gave her consent, understanding that rescuing the kittens was more important than pristine walls. With urgency, Phipps cut precise holes into the wall to reach the trapped felines.

The first kitten, lodged beside the toilet, was gently pulled from the wall—covered in dust but clearly alive and alert.

Second Kitten Found

The second kitten required more work. Trapped behind the sink, the team had to remove another section of the wall. But the payoff came as another healthy kitten emerged, shaking off layers of attic dust and surprisingly calm after such an ordeal.

Safe and Sound

With both kittens successfully rescued, the team performed a final sweep of the home to ensure no other animals were stuck. Clear of any additional feline guests, they transported the kittens back to the Kirkland Foundation’s headquarters, where cofounder Su Kim gave them a full evaluation.

Fortunately, the kittens were in good health and only required basic care—fresh water, some food, and plenty of rest. Within hours, the two were already showing signs of full recovery.

Life After Rescue

The once-trapped kittens are now living in comfort, and according to Kirkland Foundation, they are temporarily “howling in another bathroom”—this time, their caretaker’s own. They’re being well looked after until they’re old enough for adoption.

  • Both kittens were unharmed and in stable condition.
  • Rescue required cutting two holes into the homeowner’s bathroom wall.
  • The incident mirrors a previous rescue conducted by the same team.

This touching rescue story serves as a reminder of just how curious and adventurous kittens can be—and how vital local rescue organizations are in keeping them safe when they land in tight spots.
