“As you can see, he is covered in bite marks that have gotten beyond infected, and he has become septic,” the group wrote in a heartfelt Facebook update that accompanied graphic images of Marco’s injuries.
Upon arriving back at the shelter, Marco’s condition was deemed critical. His temperature had dropped to a life-threatening 94 degrees, and he was in septic shock. The medical team began immediate treatment, administering IV fluids, strong antibiotics, and pain medication — racing against time to save him.
