Cat Surprises Realtor by Hitching a Ride on Car Roof

Meet Bruce: The Mischievous Polydactyl Tuxedo Cat

There’s rarely a quiet moment in the Swenson household, especially with Bruce, their adventurous and extra-toed feline. Bruce, a striking black-and-white polydactyl cat, sports a unique total of 26 toes and an insatiable curiosity that often lands him in the middle of mischief.

While his playful antics amuse the Swensons daily, one particular escapade involving a car ride left everyone, including their longtime friend and realtor McCall Hicken, stunned and in stitches.

The “Cat on the Roof” Incident

It all began on a seemingly normal afternoon when McCall Hicken visited the Swensons for a meeting. After wrapping up business, she said her goodbyes, walked out to her car, and drove off—as she thought, alone.

Minutes later, the Swensons received a surprising call from Hicken. She had been flagged down by neighbors several blocks away who pointed out that there was a cat curled up on her car roof.

“Neighbors three blocks down got her attention,” said Scott Swenson. “She didn’t even know Bruce was on top of her car.”

As soon as Hicken heard the description, she knew instantly who the suspect was. It was none other than Bruce, their fearless polydactyl cat who had likely climbed on the roof and drifted off to sleep before she drove off.

A Familiar Face on an Unexpected Ride

Hicken, who had helped the Swensons with their previous home sale, was already well-acquainted with Bruce. “We’ve known McCall since she helped us sell our last home, and Bruce was there, too,” said Swenson. “They know each other, so this wasn’t surprising at all.”

Upon realizing her feline passenger was tagging along for the ride, Hicken did what any good friend would do—she turned around and drove carefully back to their home. Arriving in the driveway, she greeted the Swensons with Bruce still calmly perched on top of the vehicle, completely unfazed by his joyride.

“So, Bruce decided to fall asleep on top of our realtor’s car,” Swenson joked in an Instagram post afterwards. “Thank you for Ubering Bruce back.”

Bruce’s Reaction: Cool as a Cat

Most cats might be spooked after such an experience—not Bruce. As the family laughed in the driveway, Bruce hopped off the car and sauntered inside, ready for his next adventure.

“Bruce just has no boundaries,” Swenson said with a chuckle.

Thanks to Watchful Neighbors

If not for the quick thinking of observant neighbors yelling, “You have a cat on your car!”, the car-camping kitty might have gone on a much longer ride. Fortunately, Bruce returned safely home without a scratch—or a worry.

A Cat Unlike Any Other

Bruce’s impressive polydactyl paws and fearless curiosity certainly make him stand out from the rest of his furry siblings. But it’s his nonchalant attitude and talent for getting into the most unexpected places that have turned him into a local legend of sorts.

  • 26 toes: Extra digits help him grip and climb, perhaps even assisting his rooftop lounging.
  • Unshakable personality: Completely unfazed by his vehicle adventure.
  • Neighborhood celebrity: Friendly with everyone, including the family realtor.

Whether it’s climbing on car roofs or sneaking into meetings, Bruce reminds everyone that with cats—especially polydactyl tuxedos—anything is possible.
