Musician Uncovers Long-Lost Toy Stash in Unexpected Spot
For years, musician Lisa Chosed has devoted herself to keeping her cherished feline, Butter, happy and entertained. Like many doting pet parents, Chosed noticed her cat’s favorite playthings—small, colorful, mouse-shaped toys—and began buying them in bulk.
“These toys come like 60 in one box and don’t break the bank, especially over the years,” Chosed wrote in a social media post.
The Ongoing Toy Mystery
But a strange pattern began to emerge inside the home she shares with Butter. Despite continuously purchasing numerous toy mice, the majority of them kept disappearing without a trace.
Chosed occasionally managed to retrieve a few scattered under the couch, hidden in corners, or tucked away in closets, but the vast majority of them remained missing.
“I would find, like, a dozen in certain areas that I was now familiar with (under the couch, in a closet, etc.) but never to the extent that I was buying them,” she explained in an interview with The Dodo. “There was no place in my house, that I was aware of, where the toys could be that I hadn’t already looked in.”

The turning point came recently when Chosed noticed Butter playing on the stairway to the basement. Suddenly, the toy mouse she had been batting around vanished. Upon closer inspection, Chosed discovered a tiny crevice along the stairway wall—large enough for a small toy to slip through.
Driven by curiosity, she decided to investigate the hollow space beneath the stairs. What she found was nothing short of astonishing: a secret feline treasure trove.

“I just assumed some day I would find them,” Chosed shared. “I don’t know that I imagined they’d all be in one spot, though!”
In a follow-up video, Butter appears to be just as surprised as Chosed, gazing curiously at the uncovered collection as if to say, “So that’s where they went!”

Some of the newest additions to the pile still looked clean and almost brand new, but many of the older mice had accumulated dust and grime. Even so, the discovery means that Chosed can postpone her next order of cat toys—for now.
“I had another box in my cart before I found this,” she confessed with a laugh.
