The Arrival of Two Unique Kittens
Back in 2018, two adorable kitten littermates made their way to the SPCA of Wake County in North Carolina. During their initial examination, the shelter staff noticed something remarkable about the female kitten, Garnet. While her brother Santiago appeared perfectly normal, Garnet’s enormous blue eyes left everyone in awe. They had never seen a kitten with such striking eyes.

The kittens were bottle-fed by the dedicated SPCA staff until they were strong enough to be weaned. It didn’t take long for them to find a loving home together. However, seven years later, their owner had to move to an assisted living facility and was unable to bring the cats with her. Reluctantly, they were returned to the shelter.

Upon their return to the SPCA, the staff were astounded by how Garnet’s eyes had become even more prominent and captivating over the years. Their deep color and unique white streaks continued to mesmerize everyone.
Despite having undergone several veterinary check-ups, it was determined that Garnet’s unusual eyes did not impact her quality of life. Her foster caretaker noted that due to her smaller irises, she sometimes prefers dimly lit areas but remains perfectly healthy otherwise.

The origins of Garnet’s exceptional eyes remain an enigma. Her distinctive appearance, often likened to fictional characters like Gollum or aliens, has captivated the hearts of staff and social media followers alike.
On Instagram, SPCA of Wake County commented on Garnet’s mystical presence, highlighting her faraway gaze as if she is contemplating “phoning home.”
A Waiting Game for Adoption
Despite Garnet’s enchanting appearance and both cats’ sweet personalities, they are still waiting for their second chance at a forever home. Having been together since birth, they are inseparable and need to be adopted as a pair.
Garnet is described as a cuddly and intelligent cat, with remarkable skills in solving puzzle feeders. Meanwhile, Santiago, as adorable as ever, complements her perfectly.
