A Personal Passion Turned Philanthropic

Curtis initially crafted Adirondack chairs for himself and his wife, adding miniature versions for his feline friends at home. This small project sparked a larger idea when he thought back to his volunteering days at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. Realizing that the sanctuary’s cats lacked comfy places to relax, Curtis decided to make a difference.

The First Feline Chairs

Setting to work with his tools, Curtis built six vibrant mini Adirondack chairs, each painted a different, eye-catching color. He then surprised the cats at the sanctuary with his creations, placing them in various rooms within Cat World – a section dedicated to housing hundreds of cats.

The cats, naturally curious, quickly took to these cozy spots, turning them into a favorite lounging area. The adorable scene captured the attention of both the staff and the visitors of the sanctuary, leading to a burgeoning demand for more of Curtis’ chairs.

A Growing Demand

As the popularity of the chairs rose, requests poured in from around Cat World for additional seating options. Recognizing the joy and comfort these chairs brought, Curtis expanded his efforts, even designing a special cat-sized daybed upon request. To date, Curtis has constructed 40 chairs and 10 daybeds, each contributing to improving the lives of these temporary residents while they await their forever homes.
