One-Eared Rescue Cat Finds Forever Home and Happiness
A few years ago, a tiny kitten with severe injuries was brought to a veterinary clinic in Dubai, UAE. This 5-week-old kitten had one of its ears missing and bore deep wounds across her face, raising questions about her tragic past. The veterinary team at the clinic, led by Dr. Louise-Anne Manasco of USVC Veterinary Centre, was determined to help the little feline recover.
Despite the odds, Dr. Manasco and her team employed their skills to treat and disinfect the kitten’s wounds. Once stable, the kitten was named Teresita by Dr. Manasco, who decided to foster her. Gradually, Teresita began to grow stronger and her playful nature blossomed.
As time passed, Dr. Manasco and her partner realized the profound attachment they had developed towards Teresita. It didn’t take long for them to decide that Teresita was meant to be a permanent part of their family. The adorable one-eared cat had captured their hearts and found her forever home.
A New Chapter with Potito
The story took another heartwarming turn this past December when another injured kitten, Potito, entered Dr. Manasco’s life. Potito suffered from a severe eye infection necessitating eye removal surgery. Dr. Manasco took him home to ensure he received the care he needed during his recovery.
Initially, Teresita was cautious and kept her distance from Potito. However, within just a few weeks, the dynamics shifted remarkably. The two cats formed a strong bond, spending their days cuddling, grooming each other, and engaging in playful antics.
Recognizing the unique companionship that Teresita and Potito shared, Dr. Manasco made the decision to adopt Potito as well. The once-complete family now had a new member that fit perfectly — it was as if Potito was the missing puzzle piece all along.
The Perfectly Imperfect Duo
With Teresita missing an ear and Potito missing an eye, Dr. Manasco affectionately refers to them as the “perfectly imperfect duo.” Each complements the other in an extraordinary way, and their bond is a testament to resilience and healing.
Dr. Manasco often remarks on how they are inseparable and lean on each other for comfort and play. She frequently shares that Teresita and Potito only know love now, despite their difficult beginnings.
“Love heals,” Dr. Manasco writes, encapsulating the journey both cats have reflected in their new lives — a life filled with happiness, companionship, and unyielding love.
