Mystery Cat Visits New Home Daily, Heartwarming Story Unfolds

When Lori and her husband moved into their new home in Boston, Massachusetts, they were eager to integrate into their new community. Shortly after settling in, they were delighted to befriend their immediate neighbors. However, it wasn’t long before an unexpected guest began to frequent their vicinity—a charming black-and-white cat.

Luna, the black-and-white cat

Lori recounted her experience to The Dodo, saying, “We noticed a black-and-white cat hanging around outside, usually in the trees or the window planter box.” At first, Lori would simply pet the cat and continue with her day, but soon, her husband suspected there was more to the story.

“He started seeing her more often, like in the morning when he’d leave to go to work, and he would hear her meowing outside the door,” Lori explained.

A Mystery Solved

After a conversation with a neighbor, the mystery of the cat’s persistent presence was revealed. The friendly feline, named Luna, had been left behind by the previous tenants. Kind neighbors had been asked to feed her until she found a new home. Heartbroken by this discovery, Lori decided to take action.

Lori set up a warm spot on her patio for Luna and began leaving food for her each day. “At that point, she never left,” Lori noted. Despite Luna’s contentment outside, Lori pondered whether to bring her indoors. The couple was concerned about how Luna might mesh with their senior pets, Jasper and Sugar.

Finding a Forever Home

To ensure Luna’s health, Lori took her to the vet for vaccinations and other necessary treatments. Two months later, Luna made the decision to come inside. “The day she scratched on the door is the day she came in,” Lori said.

Luna quickly adapted to her new indoor life and bonded well with Jasper and Sugar. Sadly, within two years, both Jasper and Sugar passed away, but Luna remained a source of comfort for the grieving family.

A New Chapter

After some time, Lori and her husband decided to move to San Diego, California, with Luna securely in tow. Thriving in her new sunny environment, Luna enjoyed her days lounging on the patio and adjusting to her new sibling, Momo.

Sadly, Luna’s time with her loving family was cut short due to a sudden battle with kidney disease. Despite their grief, Lori and her husband are immensely grateful for the joy and comfort Luna brought into their lives.

“Luna has made all of our lives better,” Lori expressed. “I’m so glad we were the ones who moved into the house in Boston.”
