The incident occurred in Milwaukee when an alert bus driver, Stephany K., spotted a loose dog dodging traffic in the rain, narrowly avoiding accidents. Without hesitation, Stephany took action to ensure the dog’s safety.
Quick Thinking Leads to a Life-Saving Rescue
While navigating her regular route, Stephany saw the distressed pup running on a busy street in the pouring rain. Realizing the danger, she immediately made an unplanned stop. Instead of driving past, she opened the bus doors, coaxing the frightened dog inside.
Once inside, the dog seemed relieved and began exploring the bus, even greeting some of the passengers. Stephany made sure the pup was warm and comfortable while she contacted her dispatchers for further guidance.

As they waited for additional help to arrive, the rescued dog remained inside the vehicle. The friendly pup even sat in the driver’s seat, offering passengers an adorable sight. Moments later, a route supervisor arrived to assist with securing the dog and transporting it to a safe location.
The Milwaukee Police Department took charge of the rescue and worked on identifying the dog’s owner, ensuring the pet could be reunited with its family.
