Dog Turns Cat’s Litter Box Into Sled in Snowy Fun
A Snow-Obsessed Pup and Her Unusual Winter Sidekick
From the moment she was a puppy, Promise the dog has had a deep love for snow. Whether it’s a gentle flurry or a full-on blizzard, she’s the first to dash into the yard, tail wagging, ready for some wintery fun. But sledding, her favorite snow day activity, brings out her true joy—especially when she gets to ride with her mom, Mary.
However, this year’s snowy adventure took an unexpected turn when Promise gained an unlikely partner in sledding: her feline sibling, Whisper.
An Unusual Christmas Gift
A few days before Christmas, Mary set out to buy a new sled for Promise. While browsing through the shelves, she thought of Whisper, their curious and bold rescue cat. Though it seemed unconventional, an amusing idea crossed her mind.
“We decided to get Whisper one, too, just in case he was interested,” Mary shared in an interview with The Dodo. “There weren’t many options his size, so we got an extra litter box.”
Indoor Adventures Begin
Back at home, Mary introduced the litter box to Whisper. As expected, the curious cat jumped in immediately. It wasn’t long before Promise spotted the attached leash and couldn’t resist pulling it as she would with her usual sled. That’s when the real fun started.
“Promise [was] dragging him all over the house,” Mary said, laughing. While most cats might protest such treatment, Whisper remained calm and composed—clearly unfazed.
“Whisper is learning to ride the skateboard, and he rides in my jacket almost everywhere, so he’s very used to and likes the movement,” Mary explained.
From the Living Room to the Hill
Normally, Promise and Whisper play tug-of-war together, but this new litter-box-sled adventure brought a surprise twist. Seeing how much Whisper tolerated—and even enjoyed—being pulled around, Mary decided to take things outside.
Mary carried the litter box, Whisper inside, out into the snow-filled yard. Instantly, Promise grabbed the leash and eagerly headed up the hill with her feline passenger in tow.
At the top, Promise gently nosed the litter box into position. She gave Whisper a few licks of encouragement and then, in true sled dog fashion, nudged the box to send her little brother slipping and sliding down the snowy hill.
The Calm Cat and His Excited Pup Sister
Promise could barely contain her excitement with her new sledding companion. While Whisper remained as stoic as ever, tolerating the snowy thrill ride with mild curiosity—and maybe a little annoyance when Promise bumped the sled too hard and accidentally flipped him out.
“His reaction was really mostly mild interest (and probably mild annoyance when Promise flipped him out by accident), but he still would just look like, ‘Seriously, dude?’ at her for a second and then climb back in,” Mary said.
A New Bond Through Snow Day Adventures
The snowy ride wasn’t a one-time affair—Promise and Whisper continued sledding together for quite a while, while Mary watched, laughing and reminiscing about her late dog Secret, who also deeply loved the snow.
Eventually, the pair headed inside, curling up side by side for a well-earned nap. The two have been inseparable since Mary rescued Whisper at just two weeks old—but this sledding adventure seemed to forge an even stronger bond between them.
“Promise and Whisper are very close,” Mary said. Their story is a heartwarming reminder of the unexpected friendships that can form between animals—and how they can surprise us with their capacity for fun, trust, and love.
