“Everyone was asking how I get the cats inside,” Kessel shared in a TikTok video. “It’s been a long year of building their trust, but I just have to say a couple words and they all run to me from wherever they are.”

“Having 9 cats in one room is rough!” Kessel admitted, “But they are warm and cozy!”

Kessel hasn’t made any long-term decisions yet about what will happen after the cold subsides. Her current priority is making sure each cat is healthy, warm, and comfortable. As she said, “Taking it one day at a time. [It’s] still below zero out, so they remain inside.”

Once the temperatures rise, she plans to evaluate next steps — which may include seeking homes for the cats, coordinating with rescue organizations, or continuing to care for the colony herself. But for now, ensuring their survival and well-being remains her mission.
