From the moment she joined her forever home, Kona — a rescued pittie mix — dedicated herself to bringing happiness to her household. As a young pup, she enthusiastically played with her mom, Collyn, and welcomed every visitor. Whether chasing toys or snuggling with family members for brief rest periods, Kona consistently brightened everyone’s day.
Throughout the past seven years, the loving dog’s family dynamic evolved considerably, but her commitment to spreading joy never wavered.

After spending a year as their sole furry family member, Kona’s parents welcomed another puppy named Mako. Kona embraced her new big sister responsibilities earnestly, exchanging her playful energy for a more mature attitude.

Shortly after Mako settled into their home, Kona and her family began fostering various puppies — each one as wonderful as the previous. While Mako handled the entertainment duties, Kona ensured her temporary siblings stayed clean, protected and well-behaved.
And she always reconnected with her mom when evening came.
Kona particularly treasured celebratory occasions with her family. From wearing Halloween outfits to participating in her parents’ wedding ceremony, Kona was thrilled whenever she could join someone else’s festivities. Her enthusiasm was so apparent that Collyn decided to organize a special event just for her.
When Kona recently turned 7 years old, Collyn surprised her with a pink bandana, a glittering tiara, and visits from all her closest companions. In the evening, her favorite people gathered to sing a birthday song and presented her with her very first cake.
“I finally gave in and purchased her a dog birthday cake for the first time,” Collyn posted on Instagram. “She enjoyed it.”

The sweet-natured dog was overjoyed with her birthday celebration. Though she already cherished every moment with her family and friends, realizing how much she was adored made her smile more broadly than ever before.
“[She] was trying to hold back her enthusiasm and not eat the cake because I asked her to wait,” Collyn explained in an Instagram comment. “She loved nothing more than having a room full of family who she loves, smiling and clapping for her.”

Kona concluded her seventh birthday with embraces from everyone and a stomach full of peanut butter cake. Every day since, she’s felt incredibly thankful for her wonderful family, and they share identical sentiments about her.
“I couldn’t possibly love her more,” Collyn expressed on Instagram.
