Motorist Stops in Surprise: Mistaken Bird Prey Reveals Astonishing Truth

Lucy Bolton was driving to her parents’ house in Alabama a few days ago when she encountered a most unexpected scene. As she navigated the road, Lucy noticed two red-tailed hawks in front of her car. One of these majestic birds had something gray and furry firmly clutched in its talons.

Initially, Lucy thought the prey was a squirrel due to its size and color. However, to her astonishment, as she drove closer, she realized it was not a squirrel at all but a tiny gray kitten trying desperately to escape the hawk’s grip. She knew she had to intervene immediately.

With quick thinking, Lucy parked her car and approached the scene, hoping to help. The hawk, sensing her presence, attempted to fly away with the kitten. Luckily, the hawk dropped the kitten while escaping into the sky.

Lucy rushed over to the kitten, who lay on the curb resisting with hisses and claws, understandably frightened from the ordeal. She managed to scoop up the kitten, now safely in her arms, and carried him to her car, relieved to have been in the right place at the right time.

Unsure what the next steps were, Lucy reached out to Jonna, a friend who operates Woof Ave Rescue, a reputable nonprofit in Auburn, Alabama. Jonna, quick to respond, assured Lucy she would be there to assist as soon as possible.

Thankfully, despite the ordeal with the hawk, the kitten had only sustained minor scratches. The rescue team at Woof Ave fittingly named the resilient feline Hawk. Believed to be a stray, Hawk is now recuperating from his wounds and adjusting to his new surroundings among other rescue cats.

In the coming weeks, once fully healed, Hawk will be available for adoption into a forever home where he can live safely. Lucy’s timely intervention likely saved his life, ensuring a bright future ahead.

Reflecting on the experience, Lucy expressed her gratitude for being able to help. “I am so glad that I happened to be driving by at the exact moment that poor baby needed someone,” she said. “It was a crazy experience, and I still can’t believe that I witnessed it.”
