URGENT: Major Pet Food Recall Alerts Dog Owners in 8 States to Salmonella Risk

Blue Ridge Beef has issued an urgent recall of nearly 6,000 pounds of their raw dog food after testing confirmed Salmonella contamination, posing risks to both pets and their owners.

The North Carolina-based company is recalling specific lots of their 2-pound Natural Mix products distributed across eight Eastern states between January 3-24, 2025. The affected products can be identified by lot number N25/12/31 and UPC 854298001054.

Health officials warn that both animals and humans are at risk. Pet owners who handle the contaminated product may develop symptoms including fever, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps. Dogs who consume the food may show signs of lethargy, decreased appetite, and gastrointestinal distress.

The contamination was discovered through testing by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture Food and Drug Protection Laboratory from samples collected on January 8, 2025.
