A Sickly Stray with a Hidden Past

Early last year, a frail gray cat with tired eyes and matted fur was abandoned outside a veterinary clinic in Indiana. With no identification or microchip, her past was shrouded in mystery. Thankfully, she was soon transferred to IndyHumane, a local animal shelter dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating animals in need.

The shelter team lovingly named her Foxy. Malnourished and exhausted, she spent the following weeks recovering under the compassionate care of volunteers and vets. Slowly, she began to heal, though the emptiness in her eyes remained unexplained.

Brief Adoption Followed by Heartbreak

Once Foxy regained her strength and passed a clean bill of health, she was put up for adoption. A month later, she was welcomed into a new home — a happy ending, or so it seemed. Sadly, that peace was short-lived.

Foxy was returned to IndyHumane recently, her spirit battered after being rejected again. Facing the unfamiliar surroundings once more, her demeanor changed drastically. She became withdrawn and emotionally distant, keeping herself isolated from shelter staff and volunteers.

“Foxy was struggling to adjust to shelter life again,” said Jenna Habisch, a spokesperson for IndyHumane. “She became hard to approach and clearly missed something — or someone.”

Fate Intervenes: A Familiar Face Appears

While scanning adoptable animals online, a woman named Erianna stumbled upon Foxy’s profile on the IndyHumane website. In a stunning twist, she froze when she saw the cat’s picture — those eyes, the gray coat, the markings — everything looked familiar.

She instantly believed the cat was November, her beloved feline who had gone missing a year earlier, just a month before Foxy had shown up at the vet. Her family insisted it couldn’t be the same cat, but Erianna had a gut feeling — and her heart told her otherwise.

Erianna raced to the shelter, armed with old photographs and hope. The timeline and physical markings matched perfectly. The shelter staff, after their own comparison, felt equally convinced.

An Emotional Reunion

When Erianna entered Foxy’s enclosure, the room held its breath. The once cold and withdrawn cat immediately sprang to life. Her posture shifted, and her guarded expression melted — replaced by sheer delight.

“Our team couldn’t get her to come down from her hiding spot,” said Habisch. “But Erianna called her — and she came right away.”

“The reaction was pure magic,” recalled Erianna. “The moment we connected, I knew — she’s my November.” From that moment forward, the name Foxy was retired. Her real identity was restored. She was November.

Home, at Last

Now safely back in Erianna’s care, November is thriving. Her personality has reawakened, and the spark that had been missing during her shelter days once again lights up her eyes.

“She’s exactly how I remember her,” said Erianna. “She means so much to me, and I’m beyond happy to have her home again.”

The story of November and Erianna is a heartwarming reminder that sometimes, love finds its way back — even against all odds. Their reunion wasn’t just a chance encounter; it was destiny.
