Stray Cat Delivers Seven Kittens at Shelter Just in Time

In a twist of fate, an unexpected visitor arrived at a local animal shelter. A fragile and heavily pregnant ginger cat appeared mysteriously at the shelter door, as if guided by some maternal instinct. Her eyes, filled with exhaustion yet determination, seemed to convey her desperate need for safety, not just for herself, but for her seven unborn kittens.

Upon her arrival, the shelter staff quickly realized she would give birth imminently. While shelters provide necessary care, their bustling environment can be overwhelming for a soon-to-be mother. Before arrangements for a foster home could be made, nature took its course.

By that very night, the ginger cat became a mother of seven right at the shelter. Each kitten, new and fragile, arrived with its own unique coat pattern – two ginger, two blonde, two grey tabbies, and a small brown tabby.

A Safe Haven for Kitt and Her Kittens

Lori White, a compassionate foster volunteer, took immediate action after hearing about the new family. Kitt, as the mother cat was named, and her kittens were brought to a quiet, loving home by the following morning. Lori chose the name to represent a fresh start—drawing inspiration from the tranquil island of St. Kitts—while giving the kittens Caribbean-themed names, which resonated joyfully with online followers.

Kitt seemed to understand her newfound safety and responded with soft, chatty meows of trust and gratitude. As a mother, Kitt was nothing short of attentive and nurturing, always alert to her surroundings while gently nursing her kittens. She was protective yet full of gentle determination.

Kitt’s daily diet included 3 to 4 cans of wet food alongside dry kitten food.

She often attempted to move her kittens to a new location, showing her motherly instincts to find the safest spot.

The family’s progress was tracked daily, with small but significant milestones celebrated, such as the kittens’ weights increasing by ten grams each day.

By the second week, a transformation occurred as the kittens began to open their eyes and wobble around. Their explorations signaled another chapter of their growth! As each kitten grew stronger, Kitt was allowed more freedom. She selected a cozy corner, confirming her confidence in the safety of her new home.

Kitt responded quickly to messages from followers, expressing heartfelt gratitude for their involvement in the journey.

The smallest kitten, Lucy, competed tirelessly with Caicos, the largest, ensuring none missed out on their nurturing feed.

Followers celebrated as each milestone was achieved, reinforcing a sense of community around Kitt’s journey.
