Stray Kitten Chooses Man Walking Dog and Finds a Loving Home

A Surprise Encounter on a Sunday Morning

One quiet Sunday morning, Jo Palma was out walking his family dog when something unexpected happened. As he turned a corner, a tiny kitten, no older than two weeks, appeared out of nowhere.

Despite being so young and alone, the kitten wasn’t afraid at all. In fact, he walked right up to Palma and even jumped on his dog! The little one had no family in sight, and Palma quickly realized that he was probably the runt of his litter.

Stepping in to Save a Life

Palma’s instincts kicked in immediately. He knew that if he left the kitten alone, the tiny creature wouldn’t survive on his own.

“Immediately, my dad instincts just kicked in,” Palma told The Dodo. “I knew if I didn’t do anything, he was gonna die.”

Without hesitation, Palma decided to adopt him. He named him Leo, and from the very first day, Leo felt right at home.

Leo’s New Life Begins

Unlike most stray kittens, Leo showed no hesitation about his new life. He was curious about everything and seemed incredibly grateful to have been saved.

At only two weeks old, Leo needed constant care, including bottle feeding every few hours. Palma found a simple way to bond with him—feeding Leo at the same time he ate his own meals. This routine quickly turned into a habit, making the two inseparable.

A Bond That Became Unbreakable

As Leo grew, Palma found himself unable to leave his side, so he started taking the kitten everywhere.

Leo went on car rides with Palma.
He accompanied Palma to work.
Even the gym became one of Leo’s hangout spots.

Leo loved sitting on Palma’s shoulders while he did bench presses and pull-ups.

“He would actually do some of the exercises with me,” Palma said.

A Friendship That Stands the Test of Time

Over time, Leo grew from a tiny kitten into a full-grown cat, but his affection for Palma never faded. They continue to do everything together—hiking, beach trips, and of course, cuddling at home.

Not only have Palma and Leo forged an incredible bond, but Leo has also remained close with the family dog he first met on that fateful walk.

The once tiny kitten who fit into the palm of Palma’s hand had grown to be nearly the same size as his canine friend.

More Than Just a Rescue—A Life-Changing Friendship

Palma knows that rescuing Leo changed his life, but he also believes Leo saved him in return. He was going through a tough time when Leo appeared, and their companionship helped him navigate through it all.

“When I needed someone the most, he was there for me,” Palma said. “And I was there for him.”
