A Shocking Discovery on a Quiet Road
While walking along a road in the Philippines, a Good Samaritan suddenly stopped in their tracks. Faint, desperate cries echoed from the tall grass nearby. Drawn by the sound, they found a sealed yellow plastic bag laying carelessly in the underbrush. Acting on instinct and concern, they immediately contacted BACH Project PH, a local animal rescue organization known for saving animals in distress.
When the rescue team arrived, they quickly opened the bag—and were stunned to find five newborn kittens inside, clinging to life. The kittens were no more than a week old and dangerously close to suffocating without intervention. The team credited the Good Samaritan’s swift action in helping to save the kittens’ lives just in time.
Critical Condition Upon Rescue
According to BACH Project PH, the kittens were in severely fragile condition: cold, hungry, and dehydrated. Immediate medical intervention and supportive care were crucial to their survival.
“They were extremely fragile,” said BACH Project PH to The Dodo. “They were cold, hungry and dehydrated … Immediate intervention was critical.”
The team’s first priority was stabilizing the kittens. They started by gently warming them and carefully bottle-feeding them with formula. Once they were stabilized, the next step was a thorough health check. Thankfully, the kittens responded positively, showing hopeful signs of strength and resilience.
Supportive Care in Progress
Currently, the kittens are under 24-hour care by BACH Project PH. They are being bottle-fed every couple of hours, kept warm in incubators, and administered vital nutrients through supportive care. The team emphasizes that while the kittens aren’t out of the woods yet, they are improving each day.
Within a 24-hour span, the organization also rescued nine more kittens, bringing their total to 14 under their care in just one day. This sudden influx stretches their resources, but their dedication to each kitten remains steadfast.
Kittens Settling into Foster Homes
To ensure each kitten gets the attention they need, the rescue team divided them into two foster homes. Volunteers are bottle-feeding, cuddling, and nurturing these vulnerable kittens until they are strong enough for adoption. This foster phase plays a vital role in their development, both physically and emotionally.
