Young Cyclist Rescues Crying Animal, Gains Lifelong Companion
Eleven-year-old Madison was pedaling her way to the local Target when an unexpected sight at the corner of her eye demanded her urgent attention. A soft whimper led her to a row of dense bushes, where, peeking out fearfully, she discovered a small furry face.
“She saw a little kitty,” Madison’s mom, Alayna Novini, shared with The Dodo. “She looked terrified and was so little.”
Unexpected Discovery
Unsure how the kitten ended up there, Madison quickly decided she couldn’t leave it behind. She called her mom for assistance, and Alayna promptly arrived with a carrier meant for their adult cat.
Madison carefully picked up the kitten from its hiding spot and secured her in the carrier. They headed straight to Camino Veterinary Hospital, where the kitten — whom they named S’mores — received immediate medical attention.
The Healing Journey
Upon examination, the veterinarians discovered that S’mores, a delicate white, orange, and gray calico, weighed a mere 1 pound and 4 ounces at approximately 16 weeks old. Severely dehydrated, underweight, and suffering from a back leg injury, she needed substantial care.
Thankfully, S’mores had found dedicated new owners ready to support her recovery journey.
Adapting to a Loving Home
“Instantly, we knew she’d be ours,” Alayna revealed. Madison was already smitten, taking it upon herself to give S’mores her first bath and attend carefully to her needs.
S’mores quickly adapted to her new environment, meeting the family’s tabby cat and two goldendoodles. She thrived under regular care, receiving warm cuddles and nourishing meals, guaranteeing she would never feel hunger again.
“Her belly will never go empty with us, that’s for sure,” Alayna affirmed.
A Joyful Transformation
Four weeks have passed since S’mores became a Novini family member, during which her leg healed completely, and she steadily gained weight. Her days are now filled with playing and snuggling with her favorite humans, fostering happy memories.
“She is the perfect addition to our family,” Alayna declared, acknowledging Madison’s role in finding her little best friend.
